Caterpillar Grows

Author's note:
This is a story that I wrote with my son Nolan one afternoon during rest time, the time when his little brother takes a nap.  Much of the story direction was provided by his beautiful imagination, I just filled in the gaps. 

If a caterpillar walks up your arm, it may tickle a little.

It's fuzzy little hairs may brush against your skin and make you giggle with glee.

Please please, stop playing, or the caterpillar might get squished. you may have to stop everything and let it get comfy.

If you get very very still, It may think that you're a leaf. But you're not leaf, you're a person.  how can you be caterpillar food? I know, you have to put a leaf on your hand. Now what will that do?

The caterpillar will eat and eat and eat.  It will chomp up the whole leaf. then the Caterpillar will get very sleepy. Now what will it do?  

I think it will need a bed. But you're not a bed, you're a person.  You're going to have to hold your arm very very still.

The Caterpillar will make a silky cocoon to hang upside down from your arm. The Catapillar will fall asleep. Now what will you do?  

You have to be very very gentle. You can't even move your fingers. What if you have to eat? You're going to have to walk very slow to get food out of the fridge?

now that you ate what will you do? Maybe you should take a nap and wait for the Catapillar to wake up. When the caterpillar wakes up will it become a butterfly? But if it becomes a butterfly before you wake up It might get trapped in your house. I guess that means you'll have to sleep outside under the stars, in a sleeping bag, with your flash light.

It may be better to put the Caterpillar in a cup. You can watch it grow for a long long time. It may need to grow for five days.  maybe six days.  may be seven days! Maybe more!

which kind of butterfly will it be?  Is it a green one? Is it a tiger one? Is it one that has eyes on the back of its wings? Is it one that lives in the jungle?
