Schizm Bridge

In a previous post, I wrote about a design for a pedestrian bridge for Duke University.  This design was not selected for further development, but I decided to show it here anyway.

The bridge was over 300' in length and crossed a small roadway as it spanned from one new building to another existing building.  My concept here was to express the ideas of "movement" and "disconnect" in the form.

Below is a timelapse video my 3D modeling process to create the Schizm Bridge.  Elapsed modeling time was about 2 hours.

The bridge seen being deleted at the beginning of the video, is shown below.  As I mentioned in another post, the client wanted a "Soft Contemporary" look.  My teammate and I designed the bridge below as the probable choice option.


A mix of Modern with beautiful materials and vernacular forms.
